Today, 10 September, we salute and honor the following men & woman who sacrificed their lives whilst standing in the defence of what they held dear at the time and against evil and tyranny. 

SOUTH AFRICAN BORDER WAR 

10 Sep 1979: Rifleman Albertus Gottlieb from 101 Battalion SWATF was killed in a military vehicle accident in Northern Owamboland. He was 19.

10 Sep 1985: 08087504KV Major Johan Petrus Uys from the Bothaville Commando was killed in a military vehicle accident at the intersection of the Bothaville and Wesselsbron Road. He was 51.

10 Sep 1987: Special Sergeant Simeon Shikulo from the South West Africa Police Counter-Insurgency Wing: Ops-K (Koevoet) was Killed in Action during a contact with SWAPO/PLAN insurgents in Northern Owamboland. He was 28.

RHODESIAN BUSH WAR 

1978 – Pte Claudious Chirau, A Coy, 2nd Bn RAR, died on active service.

1978 – Pte Abednigo Ngwenya, Spt Coy, 2nd Bn RAR, died on active service.
