27 Dec 1977: Two members from the 1st Battalion Regiment Bloemspruit and one member from the Bronkhorstspruit Commando were killed when their Unimog vehicle skidded off the road and overturned in wet weather while traveling on the Rundu to Bagani Road. They were:
27 Dec 1980: Two members from 101 Battalion SWATF were accidentally shot dead in Northern Owamboland by members of a 53 Battalion Patrol who mistook them for SWAPO/PLAN insurgents. They were:
27 Dec 1983: 76927409SP Rifleman Teixeira Manganhes from 32 Battalion burnt to death when Aerospatiale SA330C/H Puma, Serial No.155 struck trees and crashed during a take-off near Cassinga while carrying out trooping during Ops Askari. He was the only fatality in this incident. He was 31.
27 Dec 1983: 81065039BG Rifleman Shawn Pretorius from 4 SAI Died of multiple shrapnel wounds received in an accidental hand grenade explosion inside a Ratel while in Southern Angola during Ops Askari. While debussing from the Ratel, one of the hand grenades he was carrying on his webbing got caught in the door and the pin was accidentally extracted. The grenade exploded and he was mortally wounded. He was 18.
1976 – DA Jack REYANI, Regular, Intaf, was killed in action at Beitbridge, Op Tangent.
1976 – ADF Asst Julius TSHENGENA, Intaf, was murdered by CTs at Beitbridge, Op Tangent.
1977 – DA Emmanuel MUTAVA, Regular, Intaf, was murdered by CTs in the Op Thrasher area.
1978 – FR Roger Williamson HASKARD, PR, BSAP, died of a heart attack whilst on operational duties, at the age of 43 years.
1978 – L/Sgt Peter Makunde MARUME, T Tp, SU, BSAP, died in a vehicle accident, at the age of 25.
1979 – DSA Ephraim CHAKA, Intaf, was killed during an attack on his PV.
1979 – 2Lt Andrew Jameson "Gus" DU TOIT, 3(Indep) Coy, RAR, died of a bullet wound in a contact in the Inyanga area, Op Thrasher. Various sticks had been deployed in the commercial wattle plantations in the area. Gus's stick had gone into a plantation workers' compound when they came under mortar and small-arms fire from the nearby forest. As Gus was running across the edge of the forest in a clearing that carried electricity pylons, he was fatally wounded. He died during the helicopter casevac flight to hospital.
1979 - Tpr John WURANDA, S Scouts, died from shrapnel wounds.
