Today, 14 June, we salute and honour the following men & woman who sacrificed their lives whilst standing in the defence of what they held dear at the time and against evil and tyranny.

SOUTH AFRICAN BORDER WAR

14 Jun 1979: 76694694PE Rifleman Lloyd Matthew Marthinus Kastoor from the South African Cape Corps was killed in a military vehicle accident at Grootfontein. He was 20.

RHODESIAN BUSH WAR

1976 – Sergeant Eneas MUZORORI, PGHQ, BSAP, killed on active service. Died in hospital of injuries received in a vehicle accident on 11 June, aged 36. The accident occurred when Eneas was conveying mourners from Constable Stanley Jemwa's military funeral in Enkeldoorn. His military funeral took place in Chikwanda TTL, Gutu, on 17 June.

1978 – Patrol Officer Johan William STEYL, K Troop, Support Unit, BSAP, KIA. Killed in a vehicle ambush in the Nyajena TTL at the age of 21. His semi-military funeral was held on his parent's farm in Bindura on 20 June.

1979 – Private Yussuf ISMAIL, 1st Battalion, Rhodesia Defence Regiment, KIA. Died from shrapnel wounds received in action.

1979 – Lance Corporal Raphael MATHE, 1st Battalion, RAR, killed on active service. Died in a vehicle accident in Urungwe TTL, north of Karoi, Op Hurricane.

1979 – Lance Corporal Samuel MUTENGANI, 1st Battalion, RAR, KIA. Died of wounds received in a contact on 12 June. He was casevaced to Mangula where he died two days later.
