Lest We Forget... 11 June

11 June, let us pause to remember these young men from our Generation who answered the Sunset call.

11 Jun 1950: 641154 Private Ernest Maseka from the Essential Services Protection Corps, (ESPC) died in 1 Military Hospital in Voortrekkerhoogte after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was 36.

11 Jun 1968: 01506484R Lieutenant Johannes Viljoen from 1 Squadron was killed when his Canadair CL13B Sabre, Serial No 354 crashed on the Roodewal Weapons Range near Pietersburg during a weapons delivery training sortie. He was 23.

11 Jun 1985: 83890681SW Rifleman Herbert Litwayi from 202 Battalion SWATF was killed in a military vehicle accident at Uvungu-Yungu. He was 20.

11 June 1988: 84274133BG Private Christoffel Johannes Jacobus Janse van Vuuren from 101 Base Workshop, Technical Service Corps, died after suffering cardio-respiratory failure while at Omuthiya. He was 20.

Their names and sacrifices will not be forgotten.
