27 Oct 1977: 76908417SP Rifleman Joao Victor from 32 Battalion was Killed in Action during a contact with enemy forces near Namwiidi in Southern Angola during Operation Kropduif. He was 28.
27 Oct 1979: 65406746PE Sergeant Willem Andries Johannes Swart from Air Force Base Potchefstroom died from unknown causes. He was 30.
27 Oct 1985: Rifleman Gerard Ronald Van Rosenveld died from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head while stationed at Bukalo in the Caprivi Strip. He was 19.
27 Oct 1985: 66476540PE Flight Sergeant Ockert Johannes Nel from Air Force Base Swartkop was accidentally killed in a shooting incident at his home in Pretoria. His 4-year-old son had climbed onto the top of the wardrobe and had found, and was playing with his .357 Magnum Revolver. As Nel tried to take the weapon away from his son, a shot went off, hitting him in the chest and killing him instantly. He was 35.
