Lest We Forget... 30 May

30 May, let us pause for a minute to remember the following young men from our Generation who answered the Sunset call.

30 May 1951: Captain David Doveton Kay from 1 Field Artillery Regiment was accidentally killed on the Artillery Range at Potchefstroom when he was struck by a low flying 42 AOP Auster Mk V spotter aircraft. He was 33.

30 May 1970: 66341264R 2/Lieutenant Johannes Jacobus Theron from 4 Artillery Regiment was killed in a military vehicle accident at Messina. He was 19.

30 May 1987: 69260016PE Sergeant David Daniel Barnard from the Northern Air Defence Sector at Devon was found dead at his home in Pretoria with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was 34.

Their names and sacrifices will not be forgotten.
